14/03/2011Sandy & Wayne

It started pouring as we left the National Museum of Singapore, we decided to wait out the rain as the evening approached. The dark clouds loomed over our heads as I paced in and out of the shelter hoping that the rain would stop. In the earlier part of the day, the weather was so fine with fluffy white clouds and cerulean sky. The day started out when Jean and I arrived at the Conrad Hotel, the view from within their suite was simply gorgeous. Sandy, stood in her stunning gown by Silhouette The Atelier as the brilliant Gin Tan was doing her final touches on Sandy’s hair.

Sandy and Wayne are such an adorable couple and I must say that they are really natural in front of the camera. I remember the first time I received Sandy’s call and she exclaimed that I have a new fan and started raving(to me) about my work. It was unfortunate that I was not available to photograph their church ceremony however my associate SK did an excellent job on my behalf (the same day edit of their church wedding slideshow can be found at the bottom of this post.)

More importantly, I believe it was Sandy and Wayne’s kind and optimistic character that eventually stopped the rain. It wasn’t the best sunset we’ve seen but it was a totally different kind of feeling for all of us there at the bridal session.

from the heart,

Bryan

Reflection is kinda my thing.

Isn’t she stunning?

The afternoon sun was brilliant.

It started to rain just when we left.

This was photographed in a small pavilion

And then the rain stopped

It was still good

And the last shot of the day, as it started to rain once again. I love how the raindrops create the texture in the photo.

11/03/2011Luanne & Kevin (Niki & Titan)

Full of power, speed and fully prepared for what’s coming around the bend, Niki and Titan burns rubber as they roll roaring down the tarmac. Luanne and Kevin, the owners of these motorbikes (Niki and Titan) are RC-Racing enthusiasts as well. They are one of the last couples that met us at our former gallery at Bali Lane before we moved to Northstar.

Once again, we got to work with gorgeous gowns from The Wedding Present and styled by the talented Sophia Chia. Luanne was trained in Fine Arts and she gave me all the freedom to create out of the ordinary. We planned the shoot location at two of Singapore’s soon-to-be decommissioned buildings, the Tanjong Pagar Train Station and the Queenstown Hawker Centre. I was really excited about photographing at these two places for some reasons. I have never visited the train station before, the train station’s old architecture is one of the few left in Singapore and I think it would work very well shooting with toy cameras and expired films. Queenstown Hawker Centre is a place which brings back a lot of memories to me as well. I used to visit a stall on the second level, selling one of the best pan-fried dumplings in Singapore. It taste so good that, my good friend and I would each order 20-30 piece at one go. We went there so often enough that they would take our orders on the phone, 30mins before we arrive.

Kevin and Luanne proposed to do the night segment of their shoot in a motorbike garage with Niki and Titan and perhaps I will leave it to the photographs to rev(rave) romance in their own language.

We were lucky that a train check-in

Your baggage are safe here

One of my favourite pieces

Shot with expired slides and cross-processed.

Totally dig the colors of cross-processed expired slides. You really have no idea what you gonna get.

The now defunct hawker centre.

I absolutely love the light and the rustic setting.

27/02/2011Rubi & Rick

About two years ago I shot Rubi and Rick’s solemnisation and was thrilled when they approached me again to shoot their bridal portraits and wedding day. Sad to say I was already booked by another lovely couple. I got to know Rubi, or should I say Rubi got to know my work when I sent my cameras for servicing at Nikon. She left a really great impression with her welcoming smile and fantastic service despite that back then, I wasn’t as established.

During the pre-shoot discussion, Rick mentioned about shooting with electric guitars and having the shoot with a slight rocker twist. What made things better, was one of the gowns that Rubi gotten from The Wedding Present was a stunning black with shiny sequins. The styling that Bobbie from The Make Up Room perfectly match the theme of the shoot too.

What more can I ask for when the weather and sunset was almost near perfection?

03/01/2011Justin & Bernie – Bridal Portraits

We were just done with Justin and Bernie’s wedding day last night. Allow me to share with you their bridal portraits we did last Novemeber. We shot Bernie’s gorgeous gown entirely within Sheraton Towers. It was a big and grand wedding gown with beautiful ruffles from Silhouette and we have Melissa Yeo to thank for the editorial make up and hairstyling.

23/12/2010Andy & Lisa – Solemnization & Bridal Portraits

The first time I got to know Lisa’s group of fun loving and energetic girls was through Andy and Lisa’s solemnization. As I shot one of the girls, Aili’s solemnization and wedding day too, I’ve met them a total of four times this year; and will be seeing them for another time next year at Serene’s wedding.

Andy and Lisa met at one of the best club in town, Phuture, and believe it or not, orange juice was the poison. Honestly I didn’t believe it, but it’s true. Andy’s persistence and perhaps his fighter pilot charms got him Lisa’s mobile number. Let’s take away what’s in between and allow me to share my perspectives of their union. As this post is way overdue so I’m going to blog about their bridal portraits as well.

Lisa’s array of gowns were from The Wedding Present and the lovely styling by Jyue Huey from The Make Up Room.

Here are some of my favourites from their Bridal Portraits and their session’s slideshow can be viewed at the end of the post.
